Author Madeleine McLaughlin joins BookGoodies podcast host Deborah Carney to talk about books, writing and current projects.
Born in northern Ontario in 1958. My first home was in Thunder Bay, ON but soon after, when I was a toddler, my family moved to White Rock, BC.
I wrote and drew pictures as a child, all of which, I’m embarrassed to say, my parents kept. At about 20 years old I moved to Vancouver, working as a gardener. I got a lot of jobs but after I came out to eastern Canada, with the snow six months of the year, gardening was over.
I took various unskilled jobs but also drew and painted and sculpted. I sold some but didn’t find it gave me much satisfaction, later, in my thirties, I came back to writing. The Mountain City Bronzes was actually started in the 1990’s but not finished until years later.
My hobbies are genealogy and other kinds of historical research, and walking.
